Meka is a nurturing and compassionate doula with a wealth of experience in early childhood education spanning over 10 years.
Drawing upon her background in early childhood education, she understand the importance of nurturing environments, active listening, and tailored care for each family’s needs. Meka is dedicated to empowering birthing individuals, advocating for informed decision-making, and fostering a sense of confidence and empowerment throughout the birthing process.

Who are Doulas?
Doulas are trained professionals who offer continuous emotional, physical, and informational support to birthing people (and their partners) before, during, and after childbirth—with the goal of fostering a safe, empowered, and positive birth experience.
What is the benefit of having a Doula?
Doulas assist you in creating your birth preferences, share educational materials, and point you to local resources throughout your pregnancy. During your labor, we will provide hands-on comfort measures, reassurance and affirmations, and continue to empower you to advocate for your choices. We support everyone in the room, encouraging them to play an active role in your birth and to practice self-care as well. We help you cherish your experience and preserve positive memories of your birth.
What if I am having a Cesarean?
Your Doula will help ease your experience of a surgical birth in an operating room. We will educate you about cesarean births, assist in creating a family-centered birth plan, and advocate for your preferences. We will offer support for skin-to-skin contact and breastfeeding after the procedure, resulting in a more positive birth experience.
What if my partner wants to be my support person?
Your partner or loved one brings intimacy and compassion, while we, as your doulas, provide expertise, experience, and steadfast support. Together, your partner and your doula can comfort you and empower you to communicate with the medical team and make informed choices. As your doula, we support everyone in the room with you, encouraging them to play an active role in your birth and to practice self-care as well.
How does your program support my parenting journey?
NewRoots will support your parenting journey from prenatal up to one year of age. We use an evidence based curriculum that helps you build strong attachments with your child/children. Parenting can be hard and exhausting. Our hope is to share the burden of parenting and give you the tools and skills needed to build healthy and strong relationships while implementing self-care.
